Selected as sole representative of Italian sweet wines, Donnafugata’s Ben Ryé went for the “Grands Vins Liquoreux du Monde” tasting organized by DUAD (Diplome Universitaire d’Aptitude à la Degustation) of Bordeaux (France).
The tasting, which took place on December 14th at the prestigious Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et des Vins (ISVV), was guided by Sandrine Garnay, enologist for Château d’Yquem.
A host of wines was proposed, each representing its own country: from Australia (Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling 2008) to Canada (Inniskillin Icewine), from Spain (Pedro Ximenez d’Alvear) to Hungary (Tokay) passing through other European wine-producing nations, some of the world’s finest sweet wines were tasted. Italy offered the 2006 Ben Ryé.
Donnafugata is very pleased with this new honor for its Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé, “son of the wind”. Intriguing, elegant, modern and outstandingly Mediterranean in character, this multi-award-winning wine gets everyone’s consensus, communicating with great naturalness the scents and flavors of its birthplace.
